CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE IS HIS NAME

CC here and have I got a treat for you.  It struck me that no one ever has paired music with mixology.  So that got me thinking and, armed with nothing more than a cocktail shaker and an iPod, I set off to the Patent Office.  They told me I was mad and the idea sank into the swamp.  But I persevered, boldly matching Rum and Coca-Cola with Pulp, but they said any one of a number of other Common People had done it before, and the idea burned down, fell over and then sank into the swamp.  Undeterred I presented the idea to QUIMS and the silly buggers let me in.

And now for the music: I grew up sitting silently in the living room on Thursday evenings whilst my big brother pointed the microphone from a Phillips tape recorder at the tiny mono TV speaker to capture the latest sounds from Mud and Slade off ToTP, well at least whenever there wasn’t a power cut  - it was 1973 after all.  Anyway that has inspired me to my first Retro Playlist.

That was then and this is now.  Each of Champagne Charly’s Retro Playlists would fit onto a standard 80 minute CDR (if home recording were legal -  thirty odd years later and we may have better technology, but it’s still against the law) and comes with a recommended title, cover art and of course a libation or two.
